The Head of LUM will be responsible for driving the company’s Luminary products for the Trade and Retail channels for US and Canada with a focus on forward based innovation, ideas and inputs from customers and prospects. Key responsibility will be to create the two year strategy for the LUM segment and implement the product strategy and drive product delivery to performance and budget.
The candidate must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. The Head of LUM is responsible for managing the day to day operations of product team and ensuring the execution and focus to drive the product’s success to meet revenue goals. As a Head of this segment you will be responsible for creating a product vision and translating it into a winning product, and you will own the product from initiation to successful delivery with retail and trade customers.

Additionally, you will be responsible for the growth of this segment resulting in growing the number of people within the department and, therefore, creating a career paths and focusing on the development of the team and individuals.
As part of this role, developing key strategic relationships both internally and externally is critical as you source vendors and as your work with several areas within the company to bring forward their knowledge and experience into the product development cycle. Specifically it is essential that there is strong collaboration with Research and Development (R&D), Sales, Purchasing, Supply chain, and Finance to define product roadmap and roll-out strategies
To be successful you will need to relentlessly drive the product vision through all stages of development to ensure successful launch of the product.


  • Responsible for setting the two year strategy and vision of the segment and driving the successful implementation
  • Manage the LUM USC budget, provide accurate forecasting and management of overall profit & loss
  • Responsible for creating a strong sourcing strategy to ensure quality measures are met and negotiate positive terms and costs
  • Create strong collaboration with sales, local and global LUM R&D organizations to ensure strong product localization for LEDVANCE’s technology portfolio
  • Provide close alignment with all functions to ensure timely introduction and product lifecycle management
  • In collaboration with global LUM Envision, develop and manage a customer-focused, standardized portfolio of products that are easy to install, live up to LEDVANCE’s exceptional quality and reliability standards and harmonically fit into our design language
  • Play interface role between LEDVANCE and Agents, Specifiers, Lighting Experts and other players in the Specification-grade lighting industry
  • Ensure accurate reporting to track progress against the vision and strategic objectives and budget, as well as, creating and managing appropriate product statistics to measure product adoption, quality and profitability
  • Work with the R&D team to design appropriate business solutions
  • Track and monitor product progress and manage early adoption programs with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage existing team and implement staff growth when necessary
  • Plan and implement good marketing tools to support sell-in and sell-out
  • Oversee the correct delegation, execution and follow up of work; ensure that quality standards and policies are being met and properly set expectations and goals
  • Expected to matrix manage outside vendors and contractors to ensure meeting performance expectations and customer satisfaction
  • Recruit, develop and retain staff, partnering with Human Resources. This includes on-boarding and orientation for new hires, if needed
  • Responsible for performance management and objectives setting for the team. Define and communicate annual goals, perform formal and informal performance reviews, and ensure changes and updates are communicated in a timely and professional manner
  • Proactively identify and resolve personnel issues in conjunction with Human Resources, as applicable

  • Strong organization, planning and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for both self and team to meet business requirements and deadlines and proven ability to work in a time-sensitive and high volume environment
  • Ability to work across functional groups and different level of employees throughout the LEDVANCE organization to effectively achieve business results
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, able to create presentations and the ability to present technically advanced concepts and ideas clearly and effectively to a non-technical audience
  • Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with both internal and external customers, vendors, potential technology and commercial partners and the lighting research community
  • BS or BA degree in business, planning, engineering, or equivalent work experience in the lighting industry
  • 15 + years product, marketing or sales experience and Masters or MBA is a plus
  • 5 + years of management experience preferred
  • Must have understand lighting/ electrical market and legislative requirements
  • International experience a plus, especially with Asia
  • 5+ years of lighting electrical industry
  • Lighting certified LC preferred
